The Word is Alive

I came across an awesome song on Youtube tonight. It is a song by Casting Crowns, called The Word is Alive. About halfway through the song it has a spoken part that really shows how awesome, powerful, and amazing God is. This book that as the song says "was inscribed over a period of two thousand years In times of war and in days of peace By kings, physicians, tax collectors, farmers, fishermen, singers, and shepherds The marvel is that a library so perfectly cohesive could have been produced by such a diverse crowd Over a period of time which staggers the imagination Jesus is its grand subject, our good is its design, and the glory of God is its end" is also the best selling book of all time. It was the reason for the invention of the printing press, and has been the inspiration for countless men and women. Our nation was founded upon the Truth within It's pages. What an amazing book with an even more amazing author!

Email and Status Messages Prayers.

We all have gotten those emails where it says send this to 25 friends or you don't love God or that say send this to 362 friends and you will be blessed greatly by God, and I would say that most of us have sent at least several of them out. As we were sending those did we really consider what they were saying? Is that the way that the Bible shows us to communicate with God, and show our love for Him? Is that what the Bible says we will be rewarded for?

How about the Face book status messages saying that if you are a "real Christian" you must like this status. There is one going around now that has a nice little wishlist "prayer" and it tells you to stop right now and make it your status so that you can see God will do for you.

This one is the one that God used to inspire me to write this blog tonight. I began thinking. Is this the way that Jesus showed us to pray? Can I just give Him my wishlist in a facebook message and be done? Or is prayer a two-way conversation with God that leads to a deeper relationship with Him and a greater understanding of His will for our lives. Not to say that we are no to bring our petitions to God. He tells us in scripture to do that, but isn't prayer supposed to be more than that?

Why I Decided To Start This Blog

I believe God is leading me to write tonight and I am not really sure how to go about writing a blog. The idea of writing a blog was suggested to me a couple of weeks ago and I created a blog, but have not written anything yet, because I didn’t think I had anything to write about.
Something has been brought before me that I decided to write about while reading facebook. I came to a post and I felt that I needed to respond to it , but I wasn’t sure how to respond. I see posts on facebook like this all the time and I get them in emails almost as often. I was not sure how to respond without seeming offensive. So I asked the same person who suggested I write a blog and I came to the conclusion I should write it here. He suggested a verse to consider while writing:

Colossians 4:6 (NASB) Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with (B)salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person

This is something that is hard for me,but I will try to consider it as I write this blog.

Another good verse I found was:

1 Peter 3:15 (NASB) but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;

After talking with him, I also made another decision. One that I should have started with and that was to ask for wisdom and guidance while writing this. So now that I got started in the wrong order... Here Goes.
